Deck Builders in Austin, TX

A deck is a structure before it is a surface. Footing depth, span, and how the frame ties to the house decide whether it still feels solid in ten years — and none of that is visible once the boards go down. We build the part you cannot see properly, then finish the part you can.

The Frame Matters More Than the Boards

Board choice is the decision homeowners spend most time on and the one that matters least to how long a deck lasts. Footings sized for the soil, joists spanned correctly, and a ledger flashed properly where it meets the house are what decide that. Get those right and almost any decking material performs; get them wrong and the best boards on the market sit on a structure that moves.

Deck Services We Handle In-House

New Deck Construction

Ground-level and raised decks built to span the site you have, with footings sized for Austin soil.

Deck Replacement

Rebuilding on sound existing footings where they check out, or starting again where they do not.

Composite Decking

Low-maintenance boards that hold colour in Texas sun, with the hidden fixings that keep the surface clean.

Wood Decking

Cedar and treated timber, detailed so the boards drain and the fixings do not bleed.

Railings & Stairs

Code-compliant railing heights and stair rises — the part inspectors actually check.

Built-In Seating

Benches and planters framed into the structure rather than added on afterwards.

Shade & Covers

Covered sections and pergola tie-ins for decks that are unusable in full afternoon sun.

Deck Lighting

Low-voltage stair and rail lighting run during the build, not retrofitted through finished boards.

Repairs & Refinishing

Board replacement, re-fixing and refinishing where the structure is sound but the surface has gone.

Why Austin Decks Need More Than a Standard Detail

Austin’s clay soils move seasonally, which is hard on footings that were not sized for it, and full afternoon sun is hard on finishes. We build for both rather than to a generic spec — deeper footings where the soil calls for it, and material and finish choices that account for the exposure your particular yard gets.

New Builds, Replacements and Repairs

On a replacement we assess the existing footings and frame before quoting — sometimes they are sound and the job is boards and rails, often they are not. On a new build the sequence is footings, frame, deck surface, then rails and stairs, with inspection at the points that require it. Either way you get told which of those you are buying before work starts.

Composite or Wood

Composite costs more upfront, holds its colour and needs almost nothing doing to it. Timber costs less, looks better to a lot of people, and needs re-finishing on a cycle you have to actually commit to. Neither is the right answer universally — it depends on how much maintenance you genuinely intend to do.
